This school year SCK•CEN and JRC organize the Nuclear Game Challenge, a national science contest for high school pupils of the third grade. The contest aims at broadening the knowledge and view on nuclear sciences and applications of the pupils. The teams, consisting of 5 pupils, are challenged to invent and make an educational game in which nuclear sciences and applications are the central topic.
A kick-off event will be organised at 8 November 2017, at the Royal Belgium Institute of Science in Brussels. During the first part of the event, pupils can attend four lectures given by SCK•CEN and JRC experts. In the interactive part they can build up on their ability to work as a team. Thereafter each team meets its SCK•CEN or JRC mentor which will support them in the creation of the educational game.
A jury of experts will grade the submitted educational games in March 2018. First prize of the contest is an all-inclusive visit to the research centre of JRC in Ispra (Italy).
Deadline for registration>: 15 october 2017.
